The Idea Of The Trip

What at first seems a crazy idea, has actually a practical background. Me and my partner Simon are going to buy a tiny piece of land in Sicily, where we want to start an agricultural project including horse training. Instead of moving the horses with a horse transport company, I plan to do the trip on horseback on my own. The planned journey from Gorzegno to Butera includes more or less 2000 kilometers of riding. Based on my previous long-riding experiences I think 15 to 25 kilometers are a realistic daily distance. Considering all eventualities (bad weather, ferry transportation, route changes etc.) I figured that I’ll be on the road for at least 4 months. Hopefully I can leave as soon as possible, at the end of September.
